Q1; Who are MK-x Computing?
A2; MK-x Computing was a privately owned & run company which was originally established in the UK to supply computer components, computer upgrades & Windows Recovery CDs worldwide. MK-x Computing is now part of Genner Communications & will continue to service the UK PC market by supplying computer services & PC upgrades within the UK & by supporting major manufacturers worldwide.
MK-x Computing will build on the success of Genner Sales (who supply Windows Re-Image CDs & machine specific computer upgrades) & was originally launched in answer to public demand for us to supply this service worldwide.
Q2; Where are MK-x Computing based?
A2; MK-x Computing are centrally located in the midlands & are now based in the Genner Communications Offices at the e-Innovation Centre, University of Wolverhampton, Priorslee, Telford. TF2 9FT. We serve the entire UK PC upgrade market - UK computer upgrade market in general & are also suppliers to college & university students throughout the UK.
Q3; Why should people want to upgrade their computers?
A3; Upgrading a PCs memory or storage capacity can dramatically improve a computers performance. MK-x Computing recommend that computers running Windows 95 should have at least 32mb of memory, computers running Windows 98 should have at least 64mb of memory, computers running Windows ME should have at least 128mb of memory, computers running Windows 2000 should have at least 128mb of memory (preferably 256mb), computers running Windows XP should have at least 196mb of memory (preferably over 512mb) & computers running Windows Vista should have at least 1gb (1024mb) of memory.
Q4; How much video memory is recommended for Windows XP?
A4; MK-x Computing strongly recommend that Windows XP systems use a 3d video card with least 128mb of memory, or 256mb + of memory if you play 3D games. The type of graphics card, graphics chips used & connection will vary between machines. MK-x Computing can advise on compatibility & the best types of video card for different applications (eg; video cards used in games & gaming PCs, video cards used for internet, WP (Word Processing) or DTP (Desktop Publishing), & video cards used for CAD (Computer Aided Design) will all have different requirements. MK-x Computing can advise on the best video card for your computer & for your needs.
Q5; How much RAM (computer memory) is recommended for Windows XP?
A5; MK-x Computing strongly recommend that Windows XP systems use at least 512mb with Windows XP service pack 2 & preferably 1gb + (1024mb +).
Q6; What size hard drive should be used with Windows XP?
A6; MK-x Computing recommend that Windows XP systems have at least a 80gb hard drive, but the bigger the better. This will not only increase the storage capacity, but will also free up resources & improve overall performance. However; not all computers can use all types of hard drive & selecting the correct hard drive is essential. MK-x Computing can help.
Q7; How safe is Windows XP?
A7; Windows XP is one of the safest Windows operating system to date. However, MK-x Computing strongly recommend that Windows XP systems use Service Pack 2 (with the Windows XP security centre & firewall activated) and also use a third party anti virus program & an anti spyware program. Additionally, MK-x Computing can provide impartial advise on a wide range of computer security or abuse issues.
Q8; How do I know what computer software or computer hardware to buy?
A8; MK-x Computing can identify & supply the correct computer upgrade for most brands & models of computer and supply them at discount prices. We can also in stall & support our products in-house.
Q9; What about fitting/configuring the computer upgrade?
A9; MK-x Computing will resolve 99% of customers issues over the phone or via email. Our technical support is on-going to provide customers of MK-x Computing with complete peace of mind. Visits to local sites are arranged via our sister company A&A Computer Maintenance & Repair.
Q10; Could MK-x Computing repair a PC or fit & configure the computer upgrade for me?
A10; Simply contact MK-Computing for a quote, and then arrange for delivery to MK-x Computing & our qualified engineers will resolve most issues within 24hrs.
Q11; Why should I buy a new computer when I can upgrade my current PC?
A11; There are times when buying a new computer is the best option, but not always. MK-x Computing is currently developing a range of specialist computers which although good at everything, are exceptionally good at specific tasks. Example; a DTP (Desk Top Publishing) / WP (Word Processing) PC, a CAD (Computer Aided Design) PC, an internet & web page design PC, and a Games PC.
Q12; Can I be assured of honest, impartial advice.?
A12; Yes. MK-x Computing prides itself on its integrity & would rather turn away business than mis-advise.
Q13; My local dealer could not help, how can you?
A13; Many UK computer dealers simply do not possess MK-x Computing`s level of expertise. Some UK Computer dealers would rather sell a new PC than upgrade an existing system. Additionally we are often consulted or "called in" by local dealers to resolve issues which are outside of their field of experience.

Q15; Can you Supply Computer Software?
A15; MK-x Computing does not supply games software etc because we feel that there are many UK companies who currently provide an excellent service in this field.
Q16; Can you Supply Data recovery disks?
A16; MK-x Computing does not supply data recovery disks, but rather can advise on data recovery & hard drive recovery issues. Mk-x Computing recommends can reinstall Windows in-house & recommends Genner Sales as a source of Windows Recovery CDs / Windows Restore CDs.
Q17; Do you Create, promote or market Web Sites?
A17; No. We are not a web site creation company. Our web site was created by our sister company Genner Web Site Design & Construction.
